Hours: Monday to Friday, between 8:00am – 3:30pm (averaging 35 hours per week)

Ideal Start Date: October or November

We are looking for a reliable and committed dog walker to join our established business. This is an incredibly rewarding role, though it comes with unique challenges, responsibilities, and complexities.

Your primary role will involve managing group walks calmly and safely. You will build strong, positive relationships with our dogs, enriching their walks by encouraging natural behaviours and complementing their existing training.

Requirements:

  • Full, clean UK driving licence
  • Aged 25 or over (strictly due to commercial vehicle insurance purposes)
  • Willingness to complete or provide an enhanced DBS check

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading daily group walks in public spaces and secure private land
  • Confidently supervising and handling groups of dogs off-lead in public
  • Assessing environments dynamically to ensure the absolute safety of the dogs
  • Monitoring canine body language and any subtle behavioural changes
  • Continuing the dogs’ established positive reinforcement training
  • Transporting dogs safely using a company van fitted with crates
  • Ensuring you have all equipment and supplies for the upcoming day
  • Organising your daily driving and walking schedule
  • Communicating clearly and politely with clients and the public

About You:

  • Dog-Centric: A dog lover who is genuinely interested in dog behaviour, body language, and modern training. We use positive reinforcement methods only—this approach is non-negotiable.
  • Resilient: Physically fit and genuinely happy to work outdoors year-round. This is an all-weather role (snow, heavy rain, deep mud, and everything in between!).
  • Calm Under Pressure: Able to think on your feet and adapt responsibly when faced with stressful situations.
  • Reliable: Highly punctual. Our clients depend on us so they can go about their working lives with peace of mind that their dog is cared for.
  • Capable Driver: Comfortable driving and manoeuvring a large commercial van.

Training & Probation:

We provide full training through a three-month mentorship period working directly alongside our Head Walker. Once completed, a further three-month probation period will begin. This ensures you are completely confident running our daily routines smoothly and effectively without direct supervision.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Mentorship Period: Paid hourly at the National Living Wage.
  • Post-Mentorship: Automatic wage rise to £23,660 per annum, which will be reviewed annually based on performance and business growth.
  • Holiday: 28 days holiday per year inclusive of UK bank holidays (pro-rated for mid-year starters). This includes the flexible option to take 1 or 2 weeks of absence during our annual Christmas shutdown period.
  • Use of a company vehicle during working hours.
  • A permanent position with our company following your completion of our comprehensive 6-month training and probation framework to set you up for long-term success.

Interview Process:

  • Stage 1: An initial video conversation.
  • Stage 2: Successful candidates will be invited to attend a 1-hour group walk.

Pay: £23,660.00 per year
