This is a 12 month fixed term or secondment opportunity workingwithin the new state of the art Theatres and Day Surgery department atDarlington Memorial Hospital.

This post holder willbe required to manage and supervise a team of 3 staff with the aim of providingan efficient, confidential reception and admin support service to the Theatreand Day Surgery staff.

Knowledge of Electronic Patient Records is desirable but notessential as full training will be given.You and your team are required to print theatre lists, amend theatre slots and patients details,whilst liaising with wards, clinical staff and waiting list team in order tobook patients. Line management skillsand experience are essential.

You and your team will be required to providecover for the reception between the hours of 6:30 am and 17:00 on a shared rotabasis.

Main duties of the job

Main duties are to manage and supervise the theatre adminand day surgery reception staff to ensure reception cover and support isprovided between the hours of 6:30 and 17:00.

The team provide a meet and greet service to patients &visitors who are arriving for surgery, answer calls from both internal andexternal customers. Proactivity prepareand order theatre lists and consent information ready for clinicalinteractions. Book all patients ontoour electronic patient records system and add ad hoc & emergency and traumapatients to theatre lists.

Supervisory tasks include staff rostering, management ofsickness and holliday absence, conduct appraisals and regular 1:1’s with a viewto developing the staff and team. Allocation of work and training and supportto staff.

You will also be required to provide an admin supportservice to the Theatre Managers.
