If that’s you, we’re looking for a social media video producer to join thebiggest publisher of regional news websites in the UK.This role is focused on producing and sharingengaging, creative videos on our social platforms – building relationships with readers andfocusing on video post and story publication. This role will be helping lead the way in videoproduction across all platforms from Youtube to Tiktok so experience working across all platformsis helpful.We are looking for successful applicants to start as soon as possible and there isopportunity to help shape the future of social media video production across ReachPLC. It’s a greatopportunity to work on an exciting new project and learn a lot about journalism, social media andvideo.This role is a six month fixed term contract and is a home based role.Please note we will bereviewing applications for this role as applications are submitted. Key Responsibilities

  • Create and share engaging, creative video on our social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube and Tiktok
  • Come up with engaging ideas to drive video audience on our social media platforms
  • Find new ways to promote content on social through video and find new audiences
  • Edit video supplied by reporters and agency quickly and to a high quality
  • Obtaining permission from content owners to re-edit their content and post to our social channels

The Ideal Candidate

  • Understanding of video monetisation
  • Understanding of social media algorithms
  • Understanding of newsgathering process
  • Video editing software experience
  • Video capture
  • Content writing experience
  • Passion for digital storytelling in local journalism
  • Driving licence


  • Journalism qualification NCT, BJTC or equivalent experience
  • We will consider applications from both trainee and senior journalists for this position.
  • Accredited senior or preliminary qualifications, including media law, are preferred, and experience of live news reporting is desirable.
  • Proven social media experience

The ideal candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of quickly and precisely capturing and editing video for news and entertainment.
  • You should know the difference between TikTok and IGTV and how best to optimise the same content for each platform.
  • Strong local knowledge and storytelling ideas are highly desirable.
  • Candidates must be willing to do voiceover work and pieces to camera when called for as well as working with our reporters and editors.
  • You’ll need a sharp news sense and excellent social media skills, together with outstanding accuracy and attention to detail.
  • You’ll need to be creative and energetic, with excellent social media savvy and digital publishing skills.
  • The role involves being comfortable working at pace and under deadline pressure. You’ll also need to be flexible covering shifts on a rota, including some weekends.
