Job Title: Senior Buyer* As a Senior Buyer, you will provide a full range of cost control, forecasting and financialreporting duties on all aspects of materials supply and plant for construction work within yourregion. Working closely with the wider Commercial team, you will be responsible for theperformance of the sites within your control.What skills and experience are essential to do this job?* A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role elsewhere and will be knowledgeable in allareas of purchasing procedures, construction techniques and mixed-tenure schemes* A high level of mathematical ability and problem-solving skills, with a methodical and logicalapproach to your work* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, coupled with strong written and verbalcommunication skills* You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a wider team* The ability to influence others within the business to ensure that best practices are shared toaid the Group in achieving its overall objectivesWhat do I need to achieve and deliver to be effective in this job?* Manage, coach and develop the Assistant Buyer to create a high-performing and efficientteam, working closely with key stakeholders within the business* Lead the pre-start meetings, including the presentation of relevant Health & Safetydocumentation* Support the wider Commercial and Buying team with new products and innovation byinvestigating new solutions and innovations within the industry* Deputise for the Managing Buyer where necessary and assist with the production of salesspecifications for each project* Agree the price specification with manufacturers of key suppliers, preparing the CPC1(Material Costs) including providing material schedules from working drawings* Input material schedules onto the relevant system and produce material budgets for theSurveying team* Place material orders and procure additional materials not covered by schedules and placesupplementary orders, analysing any variationsJob Description * Place plant orders by liaising with the Construction Director for compound layout and site set-up* Produce cost reports and provide analysis of material costs for completion, actioning materialand plant invoicesTo be successful in this role I may have experience in these areas:* Previous experience of working with timber frame would be highly advantageous although notessential* A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, with the ability to use MicrosoftExcel at an advanced levelRandstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality.
