Group Internal Audit (GIA) supports the Group and Divisional Audit Committees by providing risk-based internal audit activity across the Group.  The GIA teams are based across the Group’s operations in Sydney, London, New York and Asia. 

The Opportunity:

Our Internal Audit team are currently looking to add a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Auditor to conduct internal audits, ensuring that all policies and procedures are complied with. The Senior Auditor will have the opportunity to engage across the business, including the Global GIA team. 

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying and assessing key risks areas under review and generate a work programme which is risk-focused.

  • Managing audit teams in line with appropriate GIA standards, budgeted times and scheduled completion dates.

  • Preparing high quality working papers so that work performed is evidenced and issues are appropriately identified.

  • Identifying issues and recommendations for improvement to the business which are relevant, commercial and sound.

  • Producing clear, factually accurate and concise audit reports for review by engagement management.

  • Providing effective coaching, on the job training, and performance feedback to the junior members of the team to aid professional development

  • Understanding and supporting the GIA strategy and the importance of own role in the delivery of GIA strategy and plan.

  • Complying with all relevant GIA and company policies and procedures.

  • Building and maintaining an effective working relationship with management, staff and stakeholders, to understand their needs and expectations.

  • Effectively using advanced capabilities of technology in the conduct of GIA activities and engagements.

  • Handling different viewpoints professionally, consulting and referring to GIA management on complex matters.

You will need to be able to display that you have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in auditing financial and operational controls within the insurance or the financial services sector;

  • A relevant qualification in Accountancy or Internal Audit;

  • A dedicated team player, who takes initiative and actively solves problems;

  • Knowledge of

    • the London and/or global insurance market

    • Internal Audit principles

    • risk management principles

  • Knowledge of financial systems and controls

  • Knowledge of audit processes and approach, including computer-assisted audit techniques

  • Strong analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Strong critical thinking skills
