Prototype Build Electrical Technician

To deliver a class leading service that builds, maintain and supports all current and future Prototype vehicle requirements.

The candidate will be required to tear-down, build, service and maintain prototype vehicles / bucks to facilitate both whole vehicle & component testing. Support over sea’s testing.

Follow H&S guidelines.

Housekeeping duties.

Vehicle tear down.

Vehicle build.

Strip and inspect parts.

HV component assembly and operation (training provided).

Diagnosis and resolution of electrical issues with prototype vehicles / test rigs.

Component, software and coding updates to the required level, ensuring all vehicle updates are

appropriately documented.

Plan & coordinate training to achieve team versatility requirements.

If required, support prototype test vehicles whilst on test, both in the UK and abroad, providing technical knowledge and facilitating smooth running of vehicle tests.

Liaise with software and hardware suppliers for issue resolution.

Provide remote support and direction to engineers/technicians with problems in the field.

Provide support and technical knowledge to dealer networks and regional offices.

Manufacture / sub-assembly of relevant components i.e. breakout boxes, gateway modules.

Liaise with system and development engineers regarding possible issues identified.

Problem solving to aid in solution of current vehicle issues.

The role requires a methodical technician with an eye for detail and accuracy.

Proficient in office software (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project) and able to use/learn to use Teamcentre.

Driving License.

Ability to perform detailed inspection

Proficient with using all diagnostic/programing tools – iflex, evodiag, monaco, canalyser.

Failure investigations and problem solving

Must be flexible and able to communicate at all levels.

Willingness to achieve targets.

Mechanical Engineering Degreee or equivalent qualification level 3, minimum 3 years automotive trade experience

Strong technical skills and understanding of engineering & electrical fundamentals

Creative thinking and problem-solving

Strong teamworking skills are required to ensure effective communication and collaboration across functional teams
