Job Description Summary

The role is within Insurance Finance, specifically the Protection business of Scottish Widows,and reports into the Senior Manager. We’re responsible for implementing the Protection pricingstrategy, working closely with the Insurance business to set prices, using live market data,demographic and capital assumptions.
The Assistant Manager will be performing pricing on Protection propositions. The remit will alsoinclude driving process improvements within the team and working with colleagues across InsuranceFinance on ad-hoc tasks where pricing expertise is needed.

Job Description

Responsibilities

A typical day involves monitoring market competitiveness, optimising pricing rates, or supporting colleagues with other tasks linked to Protection contracts already in place.

Accountabilities will include:

  • Validating and manipulating large complex data sets
  • Developing and maintaining an in-depth technical knowledge of our models and products
  • Summarising and communicating complex technical information
  • Delivering high quality results within specified timeframes
  • Managing and mitigating risks in a timely manner
  • Perform Pricing of the Life and CI products for the Bancassurance channel, intermediary and/or LBG Flex products
  • Perform premium reviews for reviewable products
  • Support product development and price optimisation work
  • Produce pricing reports and financial analysis for senior management on price changes and pricing assumptions
  • Support resolution of pricing related queries
  • Pro-actively build and maintain working relationships to identify and satisfy mutual business requirements. This role will involve close liaison with a wide range of business areas within Insurance.

Key skills/experience required

Essential:

  • A nearly qualified or qualified Actuary, or have gained significant actuarial experience within a similar pricing role
  • Commercially minded and have had some previous exposure to pricing and/or quotation activity
  • Able to implement strong technical ability in analysing problems, determining solutions and specifying calculations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Prophet
  • Knowledge of Python/R
  • Protection product knowledge and/or experience
  • Ability to communicate credibly and clearly to colleagues at all levels
