RadiotherapyOperational Manager Brachytherapy Lead – St Lukes Radiotherapy Department

St Lukes Cancer Centre is focused on providing excellent patientpathways and patient-centred care. We strive to continuously evolve to reflectthe technical advances within Radiotherapy. The Varian ETHOS complements oursix Varian TrueBeams and 3 CT Scanners across the two sites. We also have anactive HDR Brachytherapy service, a Papillon unit for KV contact treatment anda Gulmay superficial machine.

Our Brachytherapy service currently sees about 130cervix and endometrium patients and 25 HDR prostate patients a year. We alsotreat oesophagus, rectal cancer and are in the process of introducing skin andbiliary HDR within the next financial year. We are also one of the five centresin the UK that has a Papillon machine to treat early rectal cancer.

Some routine working at our satellite site at East Surrey Hospital will be required to cover the general operational management rota.

Main duties of the job

Our main site andbrachytherapy service is based at the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford and oursatellite centre is based at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill. Guildford gives easy access to the beautifulNorth & South Downs Way, is an hour from the coast and has great transportlinks to the surrounding counties of Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex. The city offers cultural diversity, is hometo the University of Surrey and it is great place to reside and explore.

Key to this rolewill be operationally managing the brachytherapy service. Expert leadership andprofessionalism will be required to drive and support the radiotherapy servicein St Lukes Cancer Centre. You will work closely with the Lead Radiographers,clinicians, theatre staff and other key departments to ensure that we areproviding effective patient pathways and patient-centred care. The complexneeds of our interesting and appreciative patient mix mean that no two days areever the same and offer plenty of learning opportunities for you and ourradiographers.

We have on-goingdepartmental, NCRN and commercial clinical trial activity with many trialscurrently open to recruitment and further ones in development.
