As a Looked After Childrens Nurse (LAC), youll be working as part of Essex Child and Family Well-Being Service delivering care across North Essex and joining a highly skilled, motivated team that works together to achieve shared goals.

Working alongside the Named Nurse for Looked After Children, you will receive structured support and develop knowledge, skills and competencies in this field to ensure the health needs of this vulnerable cohort are met.

This is a permanent full time or part time position, working Monday – Friday travelling throughout Mid Essex in a range of environments including our family hubs and familys homes.

You’ll be joining our award-winning ‘Good’ Care Quality Commission-rated Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service (ECFWS), which we run in partnership with Barnardo’s on behalf of Essex County Council and West Essex CCG. Our focus is on improving outcomes for both parents and children by addressing issue s such as isolation and loneliness. The Social Mobility Pledge campaign states that our ECFWS should be used as an exemplar for improving health outcomes and social mobility up and down the country and we are proud of our association with this campaign.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake the lead health professional role for LAC for a small caseload of Children/Young People and responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Review Health Assessment (RHA), implement, and regularly monitor the health care plan and contribute to the childs interagency care plan.
  • Act as an advocate for the health of each child or young person who is looked after.
  • Promote the child/young persons well-being and independence to help them reach their maximum potential in life.
  • Work with the childs social worker to co-ordinate the health care plan and ensure actions are followed up

  • Be responsible for liaising with other professionals known to be providing a service to the child, to gather up to date information. This is required to complete a comprehensive and holistic child centred health assessment and care plan
