Job summary

The role is a senior position with the Estates and Capital Development directorate, with the primary function being to strategically and operationally lead and manage the Estates function on behalf of the Trust, ensuring the estate is fully compliant with legislative requirements and guidance. The role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of continuous improvement throughout the department, to provide a high-quality service that is transparent and fully reportable.

Whilst this role is responsible for the delivery of the day to day operation, a significant part of the role will be to develop the estates strategy and drive improvement and change, taking in to account the Trust’s corporate policies and strategies, within the financial envelope provided. In addition the role is responsible for monitoring and managing the delivery of services within the PFI contract at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital, ensuring that the Trust’s needs remain paramount.

Main duties of the job

This role is instrumental in the delivery of the Trust’s strategies and will therefore need to be fully integrated with senior personnel throughout the Trust to ensure work ethics and objectives align.

The role will represent the Trust on key external bodies and contribute to driving change within ICS/ICB on estates matters.

About us

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust’s core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury. Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients – the first of its kind in the country.

We employ over 6,500 full and part-time staff in a huge range of clinical and non-clinical roles across both of our hospital sites.
