DUTIES OF THE POST:

Clinical Commitments/Education and Training

The successful applicant will support the ENT service at middle grade level. Main duties are conducted at the Royal Devon, Wonford site. The post is required to provide safe and viable patient care, with responsibility for acute and elective specialty patients. The post holder is also required to contribute to their specialty on-call rota, and any specialty cross cover as detailed.

Job responsibilities

The ENT Department at the Royal Devon is looking to appoint a full time Trust Doctor at ST3+. As a suitably trained specialist, your application is invited to join our enthusiastic and friendly team working in a dedicated surgical department covering both outpatients and theatres.

The ENT department is supported by a busy surgical division committed to providing the highest levels of patient care. Your work will be split between outpatients and theatres, offering excellent learning opportunities. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the middle grade ENT rota (non-resident) covering both Exeter and Torbay Hospitals.

The initial contract is for 6 months, with an extension up to 12 months depending upon progress. There may also be the opportunity to progress to a longer term role in time.

The Royal Devon provides a full range of ENT services to the population of Exeter, Mid and East Devon. It is a designated cancer centre and part of the Peninsula Cancer Network. The appointee will work within a dedicated multidisciplinary setting and in liaison with team members from Torbay, Taunton and North Devon District Hospitals (NDDH).

The Royal Devon has developed a reputation as an innovative, leading acute hospital over 250 years. Further information on the Trust can be obtained from the trust website. The Research, Innovation, Learning and Development centre on site is a development, which consists of the Welcome Wolfson Centre for Medical Research, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Exeter Clinical Research Facility, and a new Post Graduate Education Centre. The recently established and forward thinking University of Exeter Medical School (UEMS) employs the wealth of resources at the Royal Devon for teaching and training.

The historic cathedral city of Exeter is situated centrally in the South West Region with easy access to the countryside and coast of Devon and Cornwall. It is well served by rail, road and air links.
