Surface Preparation Operative (Blaster)

Location: Chelmsford

Hours: 39 hrs per week Mon- Wed 7am – 5:30pm, Thurs 7am – 4:30pm (30 min lunch) (Friday, Saturday and Sundays off)

Salary : £12 – £13 per hour (Depending on experience)

Adecco are excited to be working alongside their client based in Chelmsford, who are looking to hire a Surface Preparation Operative to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

The purpose of this role will be to Blast, Aerolyte and Chemically strip in accordance with numerous Aerospace customers’ specifications and requirements using various blast media.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate the correct use of blasting PPE provided.

  • Ensure the relevant paperwork is provided to include drawings and instructions.

  • To blast using the various, approved equipment, and general maintenance of the equipment provided.

  • Operation of the extractor unit including setup and waste media removal.

  • Responsible for ordering sundries and media.

  • Maintenance and good housekeeping of the blast equipment and facility.

  • Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Company.

    • SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Previous metal blasting preferred but not essential.

  • Surface Preparation/Masking experience would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Interpretation of engineering drawings would be advantageous but not essential.

  • Adaptive to constantly changing workloads and priorities thereof.

  • Able to use own initiative and problem solve.

  • Able to work overtime including weekends, as and when necessary.

  • This role is physically demanding and will require a relatively fit candidate as there is a large amount of manual labour required.
