West Coventry Academy is vibrant, all-inclusive comprehensive school, located on the outskirts of Warwickshire. Currently going through an exciting development, the new school build, ready for September 2023, will be a net carbon zero, landscaped building, which is modern, up to date and student focussed. There will be a whole host of facilities built with the needs of the 21st century curriculum in mind including extensive sports facilities, a new swimming pool, state of the art Theatre, Music and Performance studios, spectacular Art rooms, an expansive Library, new Sixth Form Wing and updated ICT infrastructure with interactive classrooms. 

We are now seeking to appoint a Subject Leader of Technology to join West Coventry Academy from September 2023. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and outstanding practitioner to make a real difference to this aspirational department.

As part of our exciting £38 million rebuild we are getting state of the art facilities for the Design and Technology department.

These facilities include:

  • Two large Resistive Materials Workshops, which will include CNC Routers, Pillar Drills and Lathes.
  • A Food and Nutrition room with presentation area and induction hobs
  • An Electronics and Control room with CNC Engraver and PCB Lab station
  • A Graphics room with strip heater, engraver and vacuum former
  • A Construction Workshop with dedicated bays for students to practice their skills.

    • All classrooms across the school will have large screens on the teaching wall for that room and staff will be able to interact with these screens from anywhere in their classroom by using their iPad Pros.

    In 2023/2024 will also see the roll out of the ATLP Learning Futures project, where all students will have their own iPad to assist in their learning.

    The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in raising attainment. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead and inspire others around you. 

    Salary: MPS/UPS plus TLR2b (£5,024 per annum)
