Programme Description:

Our graduate GROW programme is a three-year accelerated learning programme that focuses on professional chartership. As a GROW graduate you will play an active part in driving your career development and will be exposed to a variety of projects across the business. Technical experience is key in our sector, which is why we will provide you with a clear framework to work towards chartership. Youll benefit from structured training, mentoring, plus funding and support for accreditations relevant to your programme, as well as the assistance you need to develop and succeed.

The Engineering GROW Programme

On the Engineering GROW Programme, you will be given the opportunity to specialise within your chosen discipline of engineering and we ensure you obtain the appropriate experiences that you need to become a technical expert.

Being an Engineer at Arcadis is about applying a human filter to all your technical expertise and training, and youll be responsible for transforming the world through innovation and creativity. During this three-year programme you will develop core engineering and consulting techniques that can be applied while working with our clients in the UK and potentially even some of our international clients around the globe.

As part of the Engineering GROW Programme, there are 4 options:

Electrical Engineering Our inclusive and diverse Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation team, work across a broad spectrum of UK and international projects and industrial sectors. This can offer variation of work, experience, and challenges within Water, Energy, Rail, Highways, or Building Services; with Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation Engineers involved in design of all aspects from Electrical distribution and Motor Control, through to Instrumentation, Industrial Control, and Automation. Everything you do will have sustainability at its heart through the designing of energy efficient electrical systems, renewable energy systems and their integration.

  • Accepted degrees: MEng (or MSc) Electrical Engineering (preferred). We will also consider applicants with master’s level degrees with Electrical element such as combined electrical & mechanical or electronics & electrical
  • Power Systems Analysis –  Our Power Systems Analysis Engineers model the Electrical Power Systems and complete Grid Code compliance checks for new Renewable Generation, Transmission and Distribution electrical infrastructure systems at a local project, regional, and national level. We provide the electrical compliance due diligence building blocks to deliver renewable generation projects and the associated local and national Electrical infrastructure upgrades and extensions for the immediate and long-term future, whilst considering a wide range of issues such as safety, climate change, the economy, and the environment. Typical studies performed include load flow, short-circuit, harmonics, transformer energisation, transient stability and protection coordination. As a Graduate, you will assist in the delivery of project related tasks to meet budget, timeframe, and quality targets, and will be able to learn new technical skills focusing on innovation, sustainability, and digital solutions.

  • Accepted Degrees: Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering Degree
  • Telecoms Engineering – Our Telecommunications team works across the business providing Network Design, Radio Communication, Structured Cabling and Information systems for a fully connected transport systems at a local, regional, and national level. We apply latest technology and methodology to design sustainable infrastructure for the future, improving quality of life. Within this team, you will assist in the delivery of project related tasks and will be able to learn new technical skills focusing on innovation, sustainability, and digital solutions.

  • Accepted Degrees: Electrical, Electronics, Communications or a related system engineering discipline
  • Earthing –  Our Earthing Design Engineers play a key role in ensuring safety within live electrical environments. A key part of any electrical power system is the earthing installation, designed so that under normal and abnormal conditions there is no danger to personnel or the public, and to ensure the correct operation of plant/equipment including protection devices. As a Graduate, you will assist with on-site measurements across the UK, conduct assessments of existing installations and propose upgrades to ensure compliance with the latest standards, assist with AC Interference studies, design and assess earthing systems for new substations, wind farms and private industrial networks amongst others.

  • Accepted Degrees: Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering Degree
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have the permanent right to live and work in the UK
  • Qualified to MEng/MSc level with a (predicted) grade of 2.2 in a relevant discipline.
  • You will enjoy working in a team environment and have the confidence to work under pressure
  • You will be innovative & creative
  • Resilient and able to deal with ambiguity
  • Be a strategic and analytical thinker
  • Excellent communication skills, and technical knowledge appropriate for the area you are applying to
  • Relevant work experience through internships would be advantageous
  • Willing to travel and stay away from home when required (where possible we embrace virtual working)
