Our client specialise in the Finance & Sustainability space bridging the gaps to deliver a sustainable future.
This is achieved through guiding and convening senior leadership across the finance and accounting community. They are looking for a Senior Manager, across their technical & knowledge department to help shape decision making, performance measurement and reporting.

The Knowledge & Technical Senior Manager is a core member of the Knowledge & Technical team, and will work closely with the Executive Director and other members of the Knowledge & Technical teams. The Knowledge & Technical team designs and delivers the suite of practical tools, guidance materials, case studies, workshops and other outreach materials – to empower the finance and accounting community to integrate sustainability in decision-making, performance measurement and reporting.

The post is based in a fast moving, busy and innovative team. The Senior Manager will support a diverse range of projects, from engagement, communications and events, through to the Academy.

Responsibility:

Technical work programme

  • Manage the development and delivery of the knowledge and technical work programme, in line with our key strategic themes: Climate, Nature and People.
  • Manage the development and delivery of the knowledge and technical content
  • Manage the quality control and review process for key practical guidance and thought leadership outputs to ensure global consistency of content.
  • Review key outputs, including those produced by the CFO Leadership Network (CFO LN) and Accounting Bodies Network (ABN), to ensure a high standard is maintained.
  • Support development of materials, case studies and research that enables content to be integrated into training and education, both by members of the ABN and by leading Business Schools around the world.
  • Manage the delivery of the technical elements of other projects.

Research

  • Share insights and give direction to the team to help them, Network members (CFO LN and ABN), and the wider finance and accounting community to stay on top of the latest research and thinking in the accounting for sustainability arena.
  • Work with the Expert Panel, team members and key Networks to identify new areas of research and shape projects.
  • Research and progress one-off projects and prepare reports as required.

Outreach and communications activities

  • Support the development of technical content for major outreach events, including those hosted by HM King Charles III, working closely with the Communication and Engagement team.
  • Represent at technical meetings, conferences and outreach events.
  • Support the development of materials for external communication and engagement e.g. newsletters, articles, blogs, speaker notes, etc.
  • Identify, build relationships and oversee activities with potential and current partners, as relevant to support the overall aims.
  • Maintain and leverage a wide network of contacts to stay in touch with current thinking, and ensure its Network members benefit from insights obtained.

Team management

    • Act as line manager to designated members of the team, identifying and providing opportunities for their development.

General

    • Carry out any other duties as needed to meet the aims and objectives; and
    • Comply with all health and safety rules and regulations ensuring own and others’ health and safety at all times.

Skills

    • Professional accountancy qualification with at least 3 years of post-qualification work experience
    • Held a role with responsibility for managing the financial, operational, people and governance activities of part of an organization
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Significant experience of drafting business correspondence and impactful engagement collateral such as workshop materials, papers, briefs and reports for a business, and ideally a finance audience
    • Ability to interact and engage with a wide range of individuals and stakeholders, to develop excellent working relationships
    • Strong professional experience and expertise in sustainability and accounting
    • Broad network of professional contacts who can be leveraged to support work
    • Proven ability to work well in a team, with line management experience
    • Strong organizational skills including the ability to think and plan ahead
    • Proven ability to prioritize own workload to meet tight deadlines, often under considerable pressure, and remain calm
    • Pro-active, flexible and mature approach with plenty of initiative and experience of adaptability and cross working.
    • Professional experience and a professional network across multiple countries
    • Experience of producing materials for use in professional training or education
    • Experience in the not-for-profit sector
    • Deep technical knowledge and experience relevant to our Nature and/or People strategic themes.
