Job summary

The post holder will be part of Somerset Talking Therapies which operates an NHS Talking Therapies service (previously known as IAPT). As a senior clinician s/he will provide clinical supervision for EMDR and sometimes line management supervision to other clinicians within the service, and will be expected to represent the service in EMDR contexts and in support of the Service Lead. This post will contribute to the developing psychological therapies programme in Somerset through leadership work and projects across the whole Talking Therapies Service.

The post holder will provide high quality psychological assessment and therapy to adult patients with a wide range of presentations and potentially more enduring and complex mental health problems who are referred to Somerset NHS Talking Therapies. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. S/he will manage a personal clinical caseload under the supervision of a more senior therapist and will liaise with and take direction from the designated clinical leads in the Service. As a senior clinician, the post holder is required to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Service’s and the Trust’s priorities and procedures.

Main duties of the job

EMDR and other clinical supervision.Oversight of training and development of EMDR clinicians in liaison with the Service and Clinical Leads.Mentoring of EMDR trainees, and consultancy and mentoring to those going through the accreditation and Consultancy processes particularly.
