We are pleased to offer 2 posts to join our General Surgery department in University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust as a Fixed Term Consultant in General and Emergency Surgery with a special interest in benign UGI surgery for a period of 6 months.
This post is suited to candidates who have completed their general surgery training (or equivalent) and are looking to further their experience in General and Emergency/trauma Surgery
Main duties of the job
We are seeking 2 Fixed Term Consultant General Surgeon for a 6 month fixed term with a special interest in benign UGI surgery to work together with a team of another 6 UGI consultants. The post holder will be expected to manage general surgical patients, working together with the team to optimise the array of tertiary services. The successful applicants will contribute to the overall performance of the General Surgery Service and will participate in an emergency on-call service for General Surgery on a 1:6 basis. The post holder will be responsible for regular out-patient clinics, endoscopy lists and theatre sessions at RSCH and PRH in a flexible manner.
The post holder will work alongside a team of 6 UGI Consultants, 9 General and Colorectal Consultants, a total of 10 registrars, 8 SHOs, 12 FY1s and 4 Advance Clinical practitioners
