We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to lead an MFL department at our well-established and successful school in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be passionate about teaching languages, dedicated to student success, and possess excellent leadership and management skills.
 
As the Head of MFL, you will be responsible for leading the department, providing strategic direction, management and support for all MFL teachers. You will be expected to develop and implement a dynamic and inclusive MFL curriculum, ensuring that it meets the needs of all students. This will require providing high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students in MFL, monitoring and assessing student progress, and ensuring that students are supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.
 
You will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students feel valued and supported. Additionally, you will be expected to develop positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies, and manage the department budget and resources effectively. You will also contribute to wider school improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with other members of the school leadership team.
 
To be considered for this role, you should have a degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related subject, and hold Qualified Teacher Status. Significant teaching experience in MFL is also essential, as is proven leadership and management experience. You should possess excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and have a good understanding of current educational policies, strategies and developments. Finally, you should understand the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
