My client, based just outside York is looking for a systems support developer/application support analyst to join their 13 strong team of developers/application support analysts. This is a hybrid role with the expectation that you will be on site a minimum of once a week. The offices are stunning with on site facilities including a canteen, gym, on site parking and a lake – yes a lake!

They are looking for a support developer to join them to take the lead on prioritising and addressing support tickets, with input as necessary from developers and managers. This could be an opportunity for an individual looking for a first role in a development team! This role could suit a recent graduate, an experience application support analyst or a 1st/2nd support analyst with a passion for development!

The team is responsible for the development, maintenance and support of web applications, databases and information systems of varying sizes and complexity. This role will see you working within a team of software engineers, taking the lead on providing day-to-day support for existing systems, mainly web -applications.
The role will involve;
* liaising with colleagues (including service desk staff, developers, managers) and system users to provide effective support and issue resolution;
* monitoring systems and activities and raising tickets and undertaking work to address any failed tasks or errors reported;
* There will also be opportunity to improve coding/web development skills with support from team developers, by undertaking minor enhancements on existing systems or undertaking smaller development tasks. Additionally there will be some project work required to support ongoing new development activities, which may include testing applications functionality and for compliance with web accessibility standards.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Monitor the development support queue, prioritise tickets and take responsibility for addressing priority support tasks in a timely manner.
Monitor scheduled tasks and processes, raise tickets for any issues/failures, and take responsibility for addressing issues in a timely manner.
Provide maintenance and sometimes minor change for existing systems as necessary.
Ensure that all work carried out to resolve issues is documented.
Carry out all development within a version controlled environment to defined coding standards, following team processes at all times.
Undertake some team administrative tasks, eg, domain renewals
Work with development delivery teams to provide additional resource for development of system enhancements and system testing

Required knowledge/skills
An understanding of object-oriented programming.
Ability to write clear, concise and well-documented code
Understanding of CSS, HTML, and one or more of PHP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, JQuery
Knowledge of any modern relational database, preferably MySQL, or MS SQL Server
Understanding of development frameworks
Ability to problem solve effectively in a logical manner
Ability to effectively deliver in a clear and organised manner a varied and changing workload where priorities may quickly change.
Ability to work unsupervised
Effective communication skills with an ability to explain technical and/or complex issues clearly to customers and other developers.
