Maths Mentor

full time/part time available

Manchester/Bolton area

£19-£24 an hour

temp for full academic year

Maths Mentors – Designated staff for the role of being a mentor for learners to go to if they have anxieties about maths and/or need extra support. Our maths mentors will work closely with our maths teachers/specialists to closely monitor attendance and learner progress and swiftly intervene when a learner is at risk of falling behind and not achieving. Our mentors will be able to provide time to listen to learners and plan the most appropriate individualised interventions which will be discussed in full and planned in collaboration with the maths specialists/teachers. Our adult learners sometimes don’t disclose their difficulties to their teacher due to fear of being judged and due to only being in class for 2-3 hours a week there isn’t always the time for teachers to meet with learners outside of class. Maths mentors will contact learners on their first absence to ensure that patterns of poor attendance don’t escalate. Our mentors will also provide support in the form of mindfulness sessions to help learners prepare for exams.
