The Lender, Investor and Insurer (LII) Market Sector of Arcadis are a UK and Ireland based team who specialise in the risks and opportunities associated with the acquisition, operation, development and disposal of assets. Our clients are blue chip companies and institutional investors, and our day-to-day is spent working within the accelerated timelines, specific processes and required returns of the real estate investment sector. As you would expect this requires a flexible, multidisciplinary team. Within LII we have 120+ technical real estate specialists and a further network of nearly 4000 spread across 26 UK and Ireland offices.

Role description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor, to join our established Lenders & Investors Technical Due Diligence & Building Surveying team. The core responsibilities will largely relate to transactional based instructions in the UK and Europe. The workload will be varied and include technical advisory with flexibility to accommodate the specific skill sets and aspirations of the applicant. You will be expected to be technically excellent and have a broad range and experience of commercial surveying / consultancy predominately Technical Due Diligence (TDD). Additionally, you should be able to commission manage both single and multiple asset instructions.

The job will involve a mixed and varied workload with often the need to balance a number of different instructions simultaneously and you will largely be focused on service delivery, often working as part of a larger commission team and supporting to achieve exceptional outcomes for our clients. You will be confident in dealing direct with the client. You’ll be required to manage your time effectively to meet deadlines and ensuring time expended aligns with the cost forecast to ensure profitability of instructions, (financial performance responsibility).

  • The key focus of our TDD advice and reporting is to identify key risks, the severity and quantification of these risks, along with recommendations for mitigation. Our advice needs to ensure that our clients achieve maximum value from their built assets with a clear understanding of risk. The role includes predominantly Technical Due Diligence along with some Project Management across a range of building types although largely commercial.
  • The position includes a relatively high level of responsibility and accountability with an opportunity to develop managerial as well as technical knowledge and skills, and to progress within a successful and growing specialist team.
  • to manage risk in service delivery and contribute to service delivery improvement initiatives.
  • to demonstrate organic revenue growth and implementation of the business plan in terms of the commercial building surveying offering
  • to manage and undertake professional technical consultancy commissions including Technical Due Diligence, condition surveys etc.
  • to liaise with the Project Managers and Team Leaders to ensure efficient financial control resulting in a cost effective service.
  • Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree and MRICS qualified (minimum 3 years PQE)
  • A clear thinking person demonstrating attention to detail who is well organised and can operate independently under a broad direction.
  • Multi-discipline experience with an ability to provide concise and commercial advice to our clients.
  • A team player who can develop and maintain excellent relationships and gain the confidence of other professionals both within the Company and outside.
