We are looking to appoint to a 9 PA Consultant in Restorative Dentistry with interest in General Restorative Dentistry including the mono-specialties of Prosthodontics, Endodontics and Periodontics. The postholder will work collaboratively with all consultant colleagues and will also provide a supporting role for the Lead Restorative Periodontology Consultant. The post is based at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work 9 PAs will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, effective and modern Restorative Dentistry service. They will be expected to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in the fields of Restorative Dentistry and mono-specialties of Prosthodontics, Endodontics and Periodontics. They will be expected to deliver Restorative Dentistry services in the field of Prosthodontics, Endodontics and Periodontics as required according to the needs of the service and will also provide a support role for the Lead Restorative Periodontology Consultant. They will be expected to work in close collaboration with consultant colleagues and other dental professionals in Restorative Dentistry.
The successful candidate should have an innovative approach to patient management and will play a key role in the management of patient referrals to the department. They will work flexibly and cooperatively with other members of the team to provide a high quality, comprehensive, service within this teaching hospital environment. The appointee will be required to participate in clinical effectiveness activities including service development and improvements. There is no on-call responsibility associated with this post.

- Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination in Restorative Dentistry or equivalent
- MD or PhD or equivalent
- FDS/MFDS/MJDF or equivalent
- Ability to work as an independent practitioner in Restorative Dentistry.
- Possess broad clinical experience and competencies in Restorative Dentistry.
- Ability to critically assess published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate
- Publications in Peer reviewed journals
Teaching and training
- Experience of teaching dental students and junior dental staff at all levels
Continuous Professional Development
- Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
- Maintenance of a CPD diary or portfolio
Management and Administration
- Evidence of the understanding of the systems and structures of NHS Management
Clinical governance and audit
- Experience in performing clinical audit
- Completion and publication of a substantive audit project or service improvement project
- Demonstrates behaviour consistent with PROUD values (see appendix)
- Good oral and written communication skills
