We have new funding for these posts to co-ordinate one of our four Zones (areas) of the city. We are looking for SLTs who have a broad range of experience with children with SLCN, experience of working with school age children and excellent organisational skills. You will have experience of working in mainstream schools and liaising closely with the wider MDT in education along with good IT skills.

Main duties of the job

This is a senior post with clinical responsibility to develop the service to support the smooth running of a designated Zone within the School Age Team in Wolverhampton in conjunction with the School Age Team Leads and the Head of Service for Children. The postholder will provide oversight of the caseload management of the named Zone and ensure that information recorded is accurate, liaising with individual Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language Support Practitioners as necessary

The post holder will have responsibility in conjunction with the Team Leads to ensure that the schools are allocated to individuals appropriately, including their own schools within the Zone.

The post holder will work in a community base and across schools and settings in Wolverhampton.

The post holder will be a member of the multidisciplinary team.

  • Contribute to the induction, mentoring and support of other less experienced staff

To have developed, through experience and postgraduate training, the specialist knowledge and clinical skills required for the post.

To work as a specialist autonomous practitioner to perform advanced assessment of children and young people (CYP) with diverse presentations. You will use specialist clinical reasoning to diagnose and interpret and then develop, deliver and adapt individualised CYP-centred treatment and management plans for CYP within your specialist clinical area.

To formulate specialist individual therapy intervention programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options, including groups, using clinical reasoning skills, knowledge of interventions and reflective practice.

To provide direct intervention and to provide specific programmes to maximise communication function and to delegate to appropriate others.

To have highly effective communication skills and demonstrate these on a continual basis with patients, carers, colleagues and the wider Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), particularly colleagues in Education

To promote an active contribution as part of the multidisciplinary team liaising with the client, their relatives / carers respecting individual needs and promoting user involvement / decision making.

To use the Trust values at all times as a framework for own behaviour and encourage others to do likewise, ensuring the values underpin all that is done
