Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic Mental Health Nurse or Occupational therapist to join our multi-disciplinary SET CAMHS Eating Disorder Team. North East London NHS Foundation Trust Community Eating Disorder service offers the latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to clients and their families with an Eating Disorder age group of 8- 18 years old.
The team’s multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with an eating disorder is a real strength. The post holder will primarily work with adults however opportunities will be available to work across the lifespan.
We are looking for a suitably qualified mental health nurse or Occupational Therapist to support the newly developed pathway within the service which is an intensive support pathway to prevent tier 4 admissions, providing intensive support to young people and their families and to deliver the best possible treatment and expert nursing interventions to those with an eating disorder. We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multi-professional team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group.
Main duties of the job
- To provide meal support in the home.
- To carry out physical observations such a height, weight and blood pressure.
- To work with the wider MDT and clinical care co-ordinators.
- To provide support for families and young people when they are admitted to acute hospitals.
- To provide consultation and advice on eating disorders and related psychological issues to other services within the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health service, and external services/provisions, schools, acute hospitals and social services.
- To provide consultation and advice on risk assessment and risk management of service users with an eating disorder.
- Work with colleagues to ensure that specialist, professional, skilled clinical care is provided for patients and that this is adapted to meet their individual needs.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to the patient and family and be aware of the social needs, referring them to appropriate bodies.
- Advise patients and their families and carers on aspects of care, which they may safely undertake in liaison with the team.
- Implement and monitor action plans relating to team and corporate objectives, the modernisation agenda and clinical governance.
- Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have capacity to work within legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment via organisational policy.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

- RMN, RGN, RNLD, OT or Social Work. Registration with relevant professional body
