An exciting opportunity has come up for a full-time Editor to join the team of a leading publisher of early years educational material; our client is an award-winning publisher producing engaging, fun and effective literacy programmes for children around the world. They have a beautiful, recently renovated office in the London / Essex borders, where the role will be based, it offers hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days per week in the offices, which are easily commutable from London or elsewhere.

Reporting to the Publishing Director, the role of Editor is a varied and important one, where, working as part of collaborative and inclusive team, your main remit will be to project manage titles and series from concept to print, helping to develop new title and series concepts. Responsibilities will include (amongst others):

  • Developing materials in print and digital formats.
  • Liaising with authors, illustrators and graphic designers.
  • Working with software such as Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
  • The ideal Editor will have strong editorial experience and a great eye for detail and design. They will be self-motivated, a quick learner and someone who thrives under pressure. Excellent written English is essential, as well as great communication skills with the ability to build relationships. Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign is key, and previous editorial and project management experience in the development of educational software and apps would be an advantage. Any previous primary teaching experience would also be very beneficial. The perfect candidate will have a genuine interest and passion for the education of children.
