The role

The Project Quality Engineer is based within our Mission Systems. Mission Systems enable our customers to deliver their mission, through our products and solutions, using intelligence and analysis and delivering critical communication services. Our aim is to be at the centre of our customers’ modern digital backbone by connecting and delivering sensors, decision support, and air effectors across military and business domains.

As a Project Quality Engineer, you’ll support the delivery of one of our most important contracts on time, to the right quality and to the planned cost. You’ll be part of a Project Quality team that sits within the Programme Delivery team.

Day to day, you will provide advice, guidance and support to the business on all matters related to quality, ensuring outputs meet customer and regulatory requirements in a timely manner.

  • Represent the customer’s interests and help to maintain the open and collaborative relationship we have. Speak regularly with the customer quality representative.
  • Provide quality input and advice through the product lifecycle
  • Identify quality risk and work to mitigate, manage and escalate to programme leadership
  • Participate in the non-conformance process, driving root cause analysis and prevention where appropriate
  • Oversee progress and sign-off on completion of the delivery process to give the customer assurance their requirements have been met
  • Collect, analyse and report on quality performance data
  • Quality planning in Production and Supply Chain to drive a Right-First-Time culture
  • Lead investigations into quality escapes, managing through to preventative action using suitable tools and techniques.
  • Experience for the Project Quality Engineer:

    This exciting opportunity will suit someone who is a dynamic, diligent, and tenacious team player who has a background and interest in the improvement of how we implement quality in an organisation.

  • A proficient quality assurance engineer with considerable practical, hands-on experience in a related industry and be familiar with how quality applies throughout a product or service delivery lifecycle.
  • Previous customer-facing roles or experience is beneficial
  • Experience of implementing quality improvements and encouraging culture change within an organisation.
  • Experience of auditing quality ISO9001 management systems.
  • An excellent working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques, and be able to provide guidance to others in their use (e.g. Pareto, FMEA, 5 why’s, 8D, etc.)
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and able to give examples of how you have used them in previous situations.
  • Qualifications of the Project Quality Engineer role,

  • ONC, HNC or NVQ Level 3 qualification in a quality, science, engineering discipline
  • Membership of a recognised quality institute e.g. CQI would be desirable
  • ISO 9001 auditor

You must be willing to travel to Tewkesbury and Plymouth as and when required to meet business needs.

    You must have SC clearance with the ability to obtain DV status.
