An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology Department at Woodthorpe Hospital as a General Radiographer. The department covers Plain Film, Ultrasound, Theatres and MRI. CT services are provided by a mobile scanner.

Main duties of the job

As a General Radiographer your role will involve working in the X-Ray Department performing plain film imaging, theatre imaging, mobile imaging and fluoroscopy imaging for injection lists. You will also be working closely with our radiology and orthopaedic consultants, helping to facilitate their interventional activity. The role will include some non-clinical responsibilities and experience with RIS/PACS, IEP, stock ordering, booking appointments and answering telephone queries is desirable. You will be an integral part of a close knit team who are committed to delivering a high quality diagnostic imaging service.

Woodthorpe Hospital sees a variety of patients including Outpatients, Inpatients, GP patients and direct access patients who are a mix of private and NHS. The department currently supports Radiography students in partnership with the University of Derby As a General Radiographer your role will involve working in the X-Ray Department performing plain film imaging, theatre imaging, mobile imaging and fluoroscopy imaging for injection lists. You will also be working closely with our radiology and orthopaedic consultants, helping to facilitate their interventional activity. The role will include some non-clinical responsibilities and experience with RIS/PACS, IEP, stock ordering, booking appointments and answering telephone queries is desirable. You will be an integral part of a close knit team who are committed to delivering a high quality diagnostic imaging service. Core departmental hours are between 8am – 8pm Monday – Friday. Weekend/Bank Holiday hours are dependant on hospital activity. The successful candidate will be required to partake in evening, weekend and bank holiday working on a rota system. Flexible shift patterns available with both full and part time hours considered. What you’ll bring with you:

  • Degree (BSc Hons or equivalent) or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC Registered
  • Member of the Society of Radiographers or other professional organisation providing Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII)
  • Experience in all areas of general radiography
  • Knowledge of Radiation Protection and Patient Safety procedures
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team and independently when required
  • Passion to deliver high quality diagnostic services
