We are looking to recruit for a new and exciting role aimed at support the Bereavement Service, part of Family Support Team at Dorothy House. COMMUNITY BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT COORDINATOR Band 5 £27,055 – £32,934 per annum

Working under the guidance and supervision of the Bereavement Service Lead, the main purpose and responsibility of this role will include:

  • To further the development of Bereavement Help Points and other community bereavement initiatives, underpinned by the principles of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), across the Dorothy House Catchment area.
  • To provide individual client assessment and therapeutic support by holding a caseload of bereaved clients.
  • To map community assets, build strong local relationships and facilitate links, enabling further development of community bereavement support initiatives, with existing partners and other identified stakeholders.
  • To work with our Community Engagement Volunteer Co-ordinators, overseeing Bereavement Help Points and community bereavement support.
  • Using ABCD, develop and define models for community bereavement support, to meet local need ensuring inclusion and community cohesion.
  • To work with partners and build on existing programmes to develop and arrange bespoke training for community bereavement volunteers.
  • Manage and monitor requirements for community bereavement projects to ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.

    Essential requirements:

  • To hold or be working towards a qualification in Counselling/Psychotherapy
  • Experience in leading health/social care projects across organisational community engagement projects
  • An understanding of the main principles of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)
  • Experience of working therapeutically with individuals/groups around loss, change and grief
  • Experience of working with and supporting volunteers
  • Knowledge of historical and contemporary frameworks for bereavement support
  • Experience of defining, monitoring and reporting on outcome frameworks for community engagement projects
  • Desirable requirements:

  • Degree level qualification
  • Knowledge of ABCD and Co-production
