Job summary

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high functioning and well respected first episode psychosis team in an CQC rated Outstanding Trust. You will join the wte consultants already leading a well-resourced MDT including trainees and specialty doctors working across the community and inpatient unit. You will have a range of community and inpatient responsibilities within the Early Intervention Service providing a holistic and assertive service for working age adults with a first episode of psychosis. The team is based at a community clinic which also houses two large CMHTs, an Early Detection Service and a Specialist Autism Assessment service. And about 15 minutes walk away from the inpatient unit. The service base is very central to the borough with good bus and Tube connections. The post would suit someone with an interest in or experience of working with people with psychotic illnesses.

Main duties of the job

The post has been made available with new investment to provide a full working-age EIP service. THEIS has previously operated a hub and spoke model; patients under 35 years old remaining in the hub and under the clinical responsibility of the THEIS consultants, and those over 35years old offered specialist assessment by THEIS and then offered an EI care package within their local CMHT. In line with the current transformation of community mental health care there was a review of the hub and spoke model and the commissioners have agreed to invest more resources to enable THEIS to become an 18-65yrs service, with all patients remaining within the central team. The current caseload is approximately 300 patients, majority on CPA, with an increase expected in coming years in line with the broader age range accepted and increasing population in Tower Hamlets
