Job summary
Our older peoples in-patientservices provide specialist care to older people with mental health problems and/ordementia, across Surrey and North East Hampshire. We have three in-patientunits based at Chertsey, Epsom and Guildford, where psychology play a centralrole in providing high-quality assessments, formulation and directinterventions, as well as supporting the ward teams through training,supervision, reflective practice and complex case discussions.
We are seeking an experienced,enthusiastic and innovative Principal Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to providestrong clinical leadership to our team of in-patient psychologists, and to workalongside other senior operational and clinical leads to maintain a culture ofcompassionate, person-centred care, where staff feel appreciated and valued
Main duties of the job
Leadership :
With a good grasp of currentliterature, you will ensure our team of qualified Clinical Psychologists andAssistant Psychologists are providing evidence-based, high quality care. As acompassionate leader, you will develop strategies around recruitment andretention to ensure the team feel engaged, valued, and supported to develop intheir roles.
Across all three units there is astrong MDT approach, where psychology is seen as a valuable resource. You willbe working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and the seniorleadership team, where you will be expected to develop the role of psychologywithin the service as well as play a key role in the shaping of culture and processeson our wards.
Clinical sessions
Y ou will lead the psychology provision at The Meadows 24 bed in-patient unit inEpsom. This inpatient unit includes the 16 specialist acute dementia beds forSurrey and 8 functional in-patient beds. As well as links with the CMHTOPs,the service has close links with the Psychology led dementia care homes pathwayteam. You will conduct detailed assessments, formulation, therapeutic intervention,and neuropsychological assessments, covering both mental health and dementia.
You will be professionally supervised by the Lead Consultant Psychologistfor Older Peoples services, in addition to specialist group neuropsychologysupervision from one of our Clinical Neuropsychologists.
