As the TrustsFreedom to Speak Up Guardian you will act as the expert and professionalresource for colleagues on all aspects of practice relating to the Freedom toSpeak Up agenda, and associated cultural change; to encourage embedding of bestpractice in enabling and supporting trust staff to raise concerns where theysee evidence of risk, wrongdoing and unsafe practice.

You will workalongside trust leadership teams to support the organisation in becoming a moreopen and transparent place to work, where all staff are actively encouraged andenabled to speak up safely.

Youwill have experience of leadership in an operational function obtained fromworking in an acute NHS environment, and a clinical background as a registeredpractitioner would also be desirable. This is a senior leadership role leadingon developing and delivering Freedom to Speak Up culture & engagementprogrammes, relevant policies & procedures and training for staff,regularly meeting with and producing reports for Trust Board Leads for SpeakingUp and reporting directly to the Executive Director of Workforce.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will ensurethat all staff are aware of, and have access to, support to help them.

You will developand manage the work of a network of Freedom to Speak Up Champions, to ensurethat Freedom to Speak Up reaches all parts of the organisation.

Ensurethat all staff have the relevant skills and knowledge to enable them to speakup effectively, and those supporting, managing or investigating speaking upissues have the capability and knowledge to do this effectively.

Developand implement data processes to ensure safe and appropriate management andprotection of information and data relating to concerns that are raised acrossthe organisation, in line with national and local information governanceguidelines.

Developstrong and open working relationships with the CEO, NEDs and other Directors,with direct access to Trust leaders as required. Attend Trust Board twiceyearly to report on Freedom to Speak Up activities. Prepare board reports.

Takeimmediate appropriate action when matters that people are speaking up about,indicate that safety and quality may be compromised.

Bean innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance andadvice to staff on speaking up issues, promoting an open and honest andtransparent culture.

Developand lead training programmes to promote and embed the Freedom to Speak Upagenda, in partnership with colleagues in the Learning and OrganisationalDevelopment Department.
