Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available to support the expansion of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) team within the Urgent Care Department at Phoenix and New Cross hospital. We are looking for Paediatric clinicians to join our Urgent Treatment Centre is a busy environment and 30% of the patients seen daily are children and young people.Successful NP’s will join an existing experienced team of practitioners working across the Urgent Treatment Centre’s. The position will be on a rostered basis 24 hrs per day, 7 days per week throughout the year.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced Band 6 and 7 children’s nurses who are passionate about their role, professional development and achieving better outcomes for patients.

Suitable applicants for the Band 7 Senior position will have successfully completed an accredited Health assessment module (or equivalent) and hold a current non-medical prescribing qualification (V300) an accredited minor illness / injury course is desirable. They will have previous experience working autonomously in an Emergency / Acute Care environment and can demonstrate that they have supported the development of junior staff.

Applicants for the Band 6 role should have prior experience working with acutely unwell children and young people. An accredited health assessment, minor illness/ injury qualification is desirable but not an essential requirement for this post. However, there will be an expectation to undertake the health assessment. Minor Illness / injury and V300 module at a later successful NP’s, will assess, examine, diagnose and treat paediatric patients with minor injuries and illness within a defined scope of acuity, presentation and their own professional scope of practice. There is also an expectation to see adult patients (with support and training) and support trainee practitioners and medical staff, wishing to develop their minor injuries / illness skills within the Urgent Treatment Centre.
