These young people may experience isolation, embarrassment, shame, depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. Common clinical presentations include procedural fear, family adjustment to medical needs, treatment adherence, identity and appearance-related difficulties and body image concern.

The post holder will also have opportunities for developing their supervision skills by supervising an undergraduate placement student and an assistant psychologist.

Working in an established MDT, the role of the Psychologist involves supporting young people and families with this lifelong condition.

The postholder will also be expected to work flexibly within PAMHS, including carrying out clinical work in other specialties according to service need. The successful candidate will join a large, supportive team of psychologists working across Great Ormond Street Hospital and will be able to access the learning and opportunities that come with being part of a large psychology service at a leading children’s hospital.

The service is currently working on a hybrid model with ongoing requirement to provide psychological services on site; to include Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
