Walnut Ward is welcoming an experienced nurse to join us as a Band 6 Deputy Sister within our progressive and forward thinking department to deliver excellent care to our local communities. This is a full time role based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.

You will be a valued member of an enthusiastic and skilled nursing team expanding the team’s expertise by bringing your cardiology experience as a Band 5 achieved through a post registration qualification or a recent cardiac care practice.

You will be supported and work alongside senior nursing and medical staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of clinical care. As a team leader, you will ensure that our nursing staff receive appropriate education and professional development.

You will be working with a multidisciplinary team which requires you to be a good communicator, provide a high standard of clinical skills, and be motivated to help drive and influence innovative practice within isolation nursing.

Main duties of the job

Ward is a 30 bedded ward caring for patients with acute medical and specialist respiratory conditions.

You will lead and be responsible for the ward team and clinical care carried out in a designated area in absence of and in conjunction with the Ward Manager. You will be responsible for the organisation and day to day management of a team of nurses.

You will act as a role model and manager of the patients’ journey including patient flow and maintain clinical credibility.

You will collaborate with the Ward Manager, Matrons and the Practice Development Team to provide the highest quality of assessment and evaluated care required to support each patient in their care pathway.

You will proactively identify development and upskilling training requirements within your team in your everyday assessment as well as in the yearly appraisals and promote effective preceptorship and mentorship for all staff. Walnut
