An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to join the Midlands and NW Bowel Screening Hub as a Team Leader.

We are seeking to appoint staff with a proactive and dynamic approach who work well independently and as part of a team. The work will be varied and provide the right candidate with a suitable level of challenge and interest. A highly organised and efficient worker will find the role rewarding and engaging.

The role is operational and supervisory in nature and applications are welcomed from candidates with managerial experience.

Work will be across all three areas of the Department – Helpline, Laboratory and Packing Room with comprehensive training offered. The position will offer the right candidate an interesting and diverse role.

Main duties of the job

The national Bowel Cancer Screening programme has 5 Hubs and the Midlands and North West Hub is located at Rugby St Cross Hospital. The Hub is a very busy Department with three distinct work areas – helpline; packing room and laboratory. The Team Leaders are part of the Management Team and support the operational running of the service. In addition they oversee all three areas of the Department to facilitate the smooth running of the work being carried out there.

  • To directly supervise and manage a team of Senior Screening Administrators, Screening Administrators and Hub Development Administrators including leave requests, individual risk assessments, management of sickness to Stage One targets, referral to Occupational Health and management of reasonable adjustments to work.
  • Complete annual appraisals for Senior Screening Administrators and regular 1:1 reviews.
  • Plan workflow by completing a weekly staff rota. Liaise closely with Assistant Laboratory Managers, Operations and Quality Manager and Hub Manager to ensure service delivery goals are achieved by working flexibly and responsively across all areas of the Departmentto balance their needs and allocate resources appropriately.

The working hours will be on a shift rotation of alternate weeks Mon – Friday 8am – 4pm and Mon – Friday 9:30am – 5:30pm.

5. Complete initial non-conformity reviews as directed by Operations and Quality Manager ensuring a supportive approach is adopted by identifying any process changes or individual staff needs and assess options to meet these.

6. Lead on the recruitment of Senior Screening Administrators and Screening Administrators including shortlisting and interview and liaison with candidates through to agreement of a start date.

7.Support the work of the Quality Team in an advisory capacity through weekly meetings.

8. Responsible for the completion of Hub audits as directed including checking of all cease requests before passing to Hub Manager / Hub Director for sign off and 3rd party kit request audit.
