Job summary

The Humber Centre is recruiting a psychologist to work in a medium secure inpatient service, predominately into a ward for adult males with learning disabilities.

There is a lot of scope for expanding this role within the team. The ward works closely with our forensic outreach liaison service (FOLS). The post-holder will also provide sessional work, consultation, and training to staff working within our prison mental health teams.

Reflective practice and creative approaches are highly valued. We would welcome your ideas on service wide projects to develop and improve the quality of the psychological healthcare that we provide.

This post is full-time, although we would be happy to consider part-time hours and some hybrid working to ensure you can maintain a meaningful balance in your personal and professional life.

Main duties of the job

The focus of clinical work will be to provide psychological assessment, formulation, individual and group therapies.

There will be opportunities for further development and training in specialist assessment and therapy skills.

There is an emphasis on close multi-disciplinary team working within a very supportive and psychologically minded context.

  • To hold and maintain current professional registration with HCPC as a clinical, forensic or counselling psychologist
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of a wide range of psychometric and other objective assessment tools as applied in mental health work
  • Full understanding of relevant policy, legislation, drivers and their application to clinical and service area, e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Social Inclusion

Desirable

  • Additional short specialist courses with demonstrable impact on practice.

Experience

  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency context
