Following a successfully bid for HEE Pharmacy WorkforceTransformation Funding, we are excited to advertise a new innovative post for amotivated Senior Pharmacist, Nurse or AHP with extensive knowledge andexperience in independent prescribing to join our dynamic, friendly, andwell-respected Medicines Optimisation team as a Pharmacy Workforce DesignatedPrescribing Practitioner (DPP) Programme Lead.

The post holder will be responsible for the KM PharmacyWorkforce DPP Education & Supervision Project development andimplementation. They will support the development of a clinical workforce throughtesting new forms of support and professional development opportunities forboth current prescribing pharmacists and those in training.

The post holder must be an enthusiastic and motivatedindividual with the ability to work strategically across the KM ICS interfacewhilst also collaborating with the other Health Education England (HEE) SouthEast region pharmacy DPP programme leads.

Main duties of the job

1. To supportthe KM ICS to lead the project for developing and implementing a DesignatedPrescribing Practitioner (DPP) Education and Supervision Framework in line withthe ICS key priorities and delivery plan of the overarching medicinesoptimisation strategy.

2. Toscope the KM local requirements for the project, driving innovation andtransformation using quality improvement approaches and methodology whenreviewing/designing processes, developing risk management strategies and anopen learning culture.

3.To developand implement a DPP education and supervision programme that will enableKM ICS to pool resources with the creation of an electronic database to enablea standardised governance of DPPs across the system providing quality assuranceand monitoring for the ICB to maintain minimum standards.

  • Registered with GPhC (pharmacist), Nursing and Midwifery Council or the Health and care Professions Council
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
  • Active engagement with relevant continuing professional development
  • Further study in education and training
  • Workforce development and training experience in the healthcare sector with ability to provide expert advice and support on the development of existing and future workforce plan outcomes
  • Educated to Masters level; or demonstrable equivalent level of experience working at a senior level
  • Recent clinical or education experience in the NHS
  • Knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes, including an understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters
  • Knowledge of pharmacy education pathways and programmes, and the associated workforce transformation agenda
  • Experience of leading clinical, workforce and/or educational innovations
  • Experience of supporting education and training in clinical settings
