Main duties of the job

We are looking for committed and enthusiastic nurses to work alongside our “CQC rated Outstanding” Critical Care Team for an opportunity to enhance and develop your skills within a challenging but positive environment, in our Level 3 Intensive Care Unit and Level 2 High Dependency Unit.

This post offers an amazing opportunity for the successful applicant’s personal and professional development. You will commence with a 6 week local induction which focuses on the foundations of critical care nursing. The team coordinates individualised support and development based on the National Critical Care Competencies (STEPS) and into academic study.

Will be responsible for the application of knowledge across the range of work proceduresand practices, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience

To act as advocate for patients within the area, to ensure a patient orientated approach tothe delivery of care and to meet standards within the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines

To ensure that patients receive high quality clinical care and a good patient experience,having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and doctrines

  • RN1/RN2/RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge

  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues
  • Uses own initiative and is able to take decisions
  • Knowledge of the NMC Code of professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of co-ordinating a shift
  • Is able to administer intravenous drug therapy/ or is willing to work towards this
  • To participate in or provide evidence of completion of preceptorship

  • Basic computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Word and Electronic Patient Records
