Job summary

This trust is looking to employ a motivated dentist who will beable to provide an excellent level of care for patients who fall within theremit of the Community Dental Service. Depending on experience and professionaldevelopmental goals, this may include care under conscious sedation, generalanaesthetic and care in the domiciliary setting. Post holders will also berequired to work alongside and supervise the clinical practice of dentaltherapists and hygienist. This post is suitable for candidates who are lookingto gain experience working in special care or paediatric dentistry in acommunity setting. The trust offers an accredited training programme for staff to become qualified to deliver bothinhalation sedation and intravenous sedation for our patients – successful candidates can be consideredfor this programme. The candidate should have a passion for child and adultdental health and be keen to make a difference to the vulnerable patients seenby our service. Being able to communicate effectively with both patients andstaff is essential as you be looking after some of the most vulnerable peoplein society. Main duties of the job

Management of bothadults and children with needs beyond the scope of general practice.

Provide a wide range of primarydental care for patients including children, people with disabilities, olderpeople and those referred by general dental practitioners.

Treatment on referralof patients requiring General Anaesthetic, intravenous sedation and inhalationsedation. Dentists new to undertakingtreatment with general anaesthesia will be mentored by a senior clinician ultimately this post holder will be expected to undertake single handed lists

Provision of adomiciliary service to housebound adults.

Participate in theEpidemiology programme where required.

Participate in audit and peer review as required.
