The Role:

Project Accountant

PIB Group is seeking a Project Accountant to join our dynamic and diversified specialist insurance intermediary PIB Group. As a Project Accountant, you will be providing project accounting services across all Business areas across the UK and Europe. You will act as a finance partner and subject matter expert, providing comprehensive financial reporting information, highlighting risks and opportunities, and presenting information at key stakeholder meetings. Responsibilities:

Reporting:

  • Engage proactively with business areas and Project Managers to provide reporting, guidance, and ongoing education to help them understand project finances.
  • Produce and present month-end dashboards and period actuals and forecasts for Project Managers and Finance Business Partners.
  • Provide robust variance commentary that comes from a thorough understanding of financial variances, forecasting assumptions, and risks.
  • Deliver spend burn rate analysis to improve forecasting and enhance risk tracking.
  • Provide reliable finance information and MI.
  • Attend key stakeholder meetings to provide sound financial advice and support.
  • Planning and Budgeting:

  • Support the key stakeholders in the setting of the annual budget and subsequent quarterly reviews. Understand, challenge, and document the key business assumptions, main cost drivers, and the impact of the proposals.
  • Understand your business areas, projects, and drivers of spend to be able to challenge and appraise forecasts.
  • Ensure budgets and forecasts are assigned to correct accounting classification: capex, exceptionals, operating Expenses, etc.
  • Responsible for the project planning in Onestream FP&A system, including support of wider finance users on project accounting.
  • Analysis:

  • Conduct investment and other project appraisals for inclusion in business cases and budgets, providing specialist advice as required.
  • Track project benefits into the business area P&Ls.
  • Continually analyse the cost base to identify opportunities and efficiencies and monitor risks and dependencies, working across Finance to obtain the required data.
  • Experience and Skills Required:

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience.
  • Must have project accounting experience.
  • Experience in presenting financial risks and assumptions.
  • Experience in delivering investment appraisals that have influenced business decisions.
  • Ability to report to all levels of management within the Group.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, and ability to manipulate data.
  • Strong financial background, including large reconciliations and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and hit deadlines.
  • Experience in, or exposure to, the general insurance broking sector would be advantageous.
