The Job
Principal Engineer – Systems Engineering (Process Development) – 12-month contract – Scotstoun – £50.67p/h UMB or £38.40 p/h PAYE (Inside IR35)
The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e., the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
The Role:
Requires a depth and breadth of expert knowledge gained through substantial work experience in
order to apply principles and concepts in a discipline or technical area. Understands business processes and the business environment, extends the knowledge base, provides specialist technical advice and guidance to other professionals. Typically undertakes the responsibility, however not accountability of technical or design authority for a sub-system. Can work and direct others in standalone situations and with little direction.
Your Main Responsibilities:
Assists in the production of estimates, creates and/or assists in the production of design requirement specifications.
Develops, promotes and shares new technologies for implementation across businesses and
programme(s)
Typically undertakes the responsibility, however not accountability of technical or design authority for a sub-system.
Provides technical leadership and guidance on matters relating to a discipline, may occasionally lead a team of engineers including line management responsibility.
Applies a depth and breadth of expertise relating to an engineering domain.
Lead development, adaptation and mapping of technical and business processes together with
process stakeholders for part of a new contract process framework.
Negotiate and agree input and output interface definitions for each process with internal and
customer stakeholders in UK and Canada.
Developing a catalogue of processes including a guided method for selection.
Support development of norms for each process to be used to measure performance and feed into
project proposal costing and resource need events.
Develop standard forms and performance metrics to support management decision making.
Jointly develop and deliver process framework readiness and roll-out plan.
Work with IT stakeholders to define capability requirements.
Your skills and qualifications:
Process development in engineering or manufacturing environment
Application of lean / value stream mapping or similar approach
Degree qualified (RQF Level 6/SCQF Level 9) or equivalent experience in a technology,
engineering or science related discipline
Member of a Professional Engineering Institute recognised by the Engineering Council.
