Job summary
An exciting opportunity for a new member of staff to join our Wheelchair Repairs Team.
The post holder will work as part of the Wheelchair Repairs Team by delivering wheelchairs and accessories to clinics and patients home. You will also support the team by completing planned preventative maintained (PPM) on wheelchairs.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a member of the Wheelchair Repairs Team to support delivering of equipment and managing PPM throughout Norfolk. They will need to have a flexible approach to work, with the ability to priorities workload.
The post holder requires a full clean driving licence and to be confident with driving the trust 3.5 tonne vans .

Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Manage equipment maintenance in close proximity to patients, in areas such as hospitals, residential homes and patients homes.
- Service, diagnose, modify and repair a range of wheelchair equipment.
- Ensure safe and responsible use of test equipment and tools.
- Assess economic viability of repairing wheelchair and associated equipment versus replacement.
- Be possibly exposed to verbal aggression and face challenging situations whilst working as a lone worker without immediate supervision.
- Be prepared to in unhygienic conditions with possibly unpleasant smells and infection materials when in patient homes.
- Act in accordance with COSHH and PPE regulations and provided guidance.
- Complete job-related documentation to required standard.
- Prioritise allocated daily work schedule, adapting where necessary to accommodate emergency call outs and liaise direct with service users if required.
- Request supplies, parts and accessories in preparation for repairs and maintenance, maintaining required stock levels.
- Contribute as required to service development.
- Undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including mandatory, statutory and technical training (supervisory and supplier-provided) as required.
- To be responsible for ensuring the provided vehicle is maintained in a roadworthy and clean condition in accordance with current transport legislation.
- Empathise with patients and their medical conditions, whilst maintaining a professional demeanour at all times.
- Follow Infection Control guidance at all times, regardless of working environment.
- Be aware of personal safety at all times, utilising lone worker device and/or local escalation procedure as required.
- Liaise with clinical colleagues to resolve maintenance/modification issues for service users and their equipment.
- Share knowledge and experience with immediate technical colleagues to resolve repair and maintenance issues.
- To support workshop activities when not out on the road including the refurbishment of wheelchairs and associated parts, decontamination of wheelchairs and scrapping of wheelchairs and parts.
- Support wider department by delivering and collecting other medical equipment as requested.
