We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to work on PICU, Oak Ward, based at Kingfisher Court.

Main duties of the job

Oak Ward (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) is a 12 bedded acute assessment unit for adults of working age (male only) based at Kingfisher Court in Radlett. The Specialty Doctor will work 10 PAs with full-time Consultant Psychiatrist, one Foundation Year 2 Trainee who are all based at Oak Ward.

The post holder will work in a well-established multidisciplinary team, providing senior clinical input into the integrated acute care pathway

Personal Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered medical practitioner with the General Medical Council (GMC). Possession of a current License to Practice.

Desirable

  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • A diploma in Psychiatry or MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Section 12 Approval OR Interest in working towards section 12 approval and AC status.

Experience, Clinical Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in General Adult Psychiatry with at least two years in an approved training scheme.
  • Experience of working in community settings in General Adult Psychiatry.
  • Ability to work well in Multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
  • Clinical experience in a range of services within General Adult Psychiatry.

Desirable

  • Clinical experience in a range of services within General Adult Psychiatry.
