Main duties of the job

In all our services, we have achieved CQC good in all areas.

A bit about our GP surgeries

We have almost 15,000 patients in our 2 GP surgeries across 3 sites in Leicester City. These are historically GP surgeries which have struggled. With our expertise these GP surgeries are rapidly improving, and this has been recognised by CQC and our positive NHS Choices feedback.

We have ambitious plans for our GP surgeries. We are investing in our clinical workforce with a multidisciplinary team to include:

  • Upskilled Health Care Assistants and nursing team
  • Advanced Clinical Practitioners
  • First Contact physiotherapists
  • Pharmacists

You will work in our GP practices covering adiverse population with significant health needs. The work will include:

Routineand urgent acute appointments

Managingpatients with long term conditions and at end of life, including care planning

Visitingpatients at home if appropriate

Supportingon call arrangements to ensure medical cover is available throughout the day

Undertakingpaperwork, including pathology results, prescriptions and hospital letters

Participatein audits and multidisciplinary team meetings

Theremay also be the opportunity for you to deliver enhanced services such as minorsurgery, anti-coagulation initiation and monitoring and substance misuse. Wewill support your training, where required, to deliver these services if thereis a need for them.

In general the post holder will be expected toundertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GPworking in Primary / Urgent Care, such as:

Keepcontemporaneous, accurate and legible records of all patient contacts andcontribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service

Prescribe,issue prescription and treatments according to agreed protocols and localguidance, within scope of competence.

Contributeto evaluation / audit, significant event reporting and clinical standardsetting within the service

Developand encourage positive working relationships with local GP Practices, housing,social work, voluntary services, drug and alcohol, mental health, dental,secondary care and other appropriate services

Pursuecontinuing professional and personal development. Eight days study leave peryear will be provided, pro rata, for CPD following discussion with the ClinicalDirector during the appraisal process. The post holders line manager mustapprove all study leave.
