South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
Job summary
We have a post for a Locum Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine to join our team for 12 Months.
Main duties of the job
North Middlesex University NHS trust is investing in its busy and successful paediatric service. We want to hear from innovative and passionate clinicians and want to work in a cohesive forward thinking team who are constantly striving to improve the care we deliver.
The paediatric emergency department is one of the busiest in North London, seeing around 48,000 children per year. The department is open 24/7 and is staffed by dedicated paediatric nurses. We attend to children from the local area and beyond with acute paediatric care and are a trauma unit, as part of the North East London Trauma Network. We have a co-located urgent treatment centre, staffed by General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners.
About us
This maternity cover role is a fantastic post for an applicant who will be on the GMC specialist register (or within 6 months of being so), having completed Paediatric Emergency Medicine subspecialty training via either the RCPCH or RCEM route (or demonstrably equivalent training). The successful applicant will deliver acute care in our paediatric ED along with responsibility for training, development of guidelines and improving pathways. The post joins our team of 2.5 consultants – 2 from a paediatric training background and 1 emergency medicine consultant with subspecialty training in PEM. We are a developing and innovative department and are looking for candidates to support our aim to deliver outstanding paediatric emergency and urgent care.
