Legal Counsel – 12 month FTC

About Us

Zenith is an award winning, market leader in the fleet industry, with an exciting and dynamic customer portfolio.

Due to maternity leave we are looking for a technically excellent and pro-active Lawyer to provide commercial and legal advice to Zenith’s businesses as well as advising on compliance, data protection and regulated activities. Initially on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

We are happy to consider flexible working and possible part time working patterns.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft and review customer, supplier and outsourcing agreements across the whole range of goods and services including B2B, B2C, IT, Property & General Services
  • Help Zenith’s regulated business with legal and compliance matters including advice on legal issues relating to regulated products, agreements, new marketing and other promotional material
  • Instructing and managing external legal counsel as required
  • Drafting and updating policy documents, websites and marketing material as needed
  • Provide commercial advice and support to the New Business and Tender teams including strategic pricing issues and other commercial agreements
  • Support the ownership of Zenith’s template terms and conditions, ensuring that they are maintained and updated in accordance with any business or legal requirements
  • Advise and support the Zenith Group with regards to IT, IP and data protection matters in collaboration with the Compliance and Regulatory teams
  • Ensure all legal arrangements comply with the Group’s internal Policies and Risk Parameters
  • Assist the General Counsel and Senior Team in handling key strategic matters from a legal perspective
  • Awareness of operational and regulatory risk which may impact on the Zenith Group. Report to the Legal Team and Zenith Board any risk which may impact the business
  • Align with key stakeholders on delivering legal priorities, including delivering training on key legal topics
  • Building strong relationships with Zenith’s divisions and functions including Procurement, IT, Finance, New Business and Account Management

 

Skills & Experience

  • Practising solicitor or alternative legal qualification
  • Detailed and technical commercial and/or corporate experience including drafting and reviewing complex agreements and negotiation
  • Objective thinking with the ability to advance ideas and influence others including analysing, problem solving and decision making
  • Good communication skills with a proven ability to counsel stakeholders on legal matters
  • Good commercial awareness and capable of engaging in discussions about new business models and approaches
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Previous in-house experience or secondment is desirable
  • Previous experience of working in the regulated financial services sector or experience of working in a large/complex organisation is also desirable
