We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic and authentic nurse leader with a shared vision in delivering the very best patient experience & outcomes, whilst continuing to strive for quality improvements in partnership within the multiprofessional team.

The matron will embrace compassionate leadership and be a significantly autonomous professional clinical manager, responsible for multiple clinical services and staff. You will have a strong ability to lead the team whilst supporting the delivery of the Divisional Directors Quality and Nursing agenda including patient safety & experience.

A vision for strategy planning for the services will be an important part of the role working closely alongside the existing matron within a Quad/triumvirate service team, ensuring the nursing voice is strong using negotiation and persuasion skills.

You will be part of supporting;

– the exciting launch of 3 brand new Theatres, linked to the expansion of the fantastic new day surgery unit

– a brand-new Interventional Radiation suite in Gloucester theatres, and support for the cardiology service.

As a matron you will have opportunities to;

Main duties of the job

The successful matron will have a valid 1st level registration with the nursing and midwifery council, with an ambition to study towards higher level education, incorporating research based clinical practices within quality improvements; whilst supporting the Trusts ambition to achieve University Status.

The matron we are looking for will be compassionate, transformational and inclusive with a supporting focus to achieve the division’s model employer aspirations.

As a Trust and Division we are building our journey along Pathway to Excellence and you would be instrumental in supporting staff to feel autonomous and competent through shared councils and governance. The Matron will ensure all clinical, quality, safety, financial and workforce delivery for all service lines in relation to clinical outcomes, clinical efficiency and service line reporting.

Lead theatre specific audits and safety around WHO, Never Events, SBYB, role modelling exemplar practice to maintain our fantastic track record on eliminating never events in Theatres since December 2021.

The surgical division is a team passionate to improve how we manage and care for our patients.
