Job summary

This a new, full time consultant appointment in response to the development of a diagnostic assessment centre at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation NHS Trust. The successful applicant would join a team of 40 consultant radiologists of whom five specialize in chest and cardiac radiology.

Applicants would be expected to have wide experience in chest and cardiac radiology including intervention, and the department would be flexible in accommodating any secondary areas of interest. Given that we have a large radiology training scheme an enthusiasm and aptitude for teaching and training would also be an advantage. The candidate would be expected to participate with colleagues in a likely 1:20 out-of-hours general radiology provision.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for the prestigious post of consultant within the Department of Radiology at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Department forms part of one of the most dynamic University Teaching Hospitals in the country, with an excellent reputation in patient care, research and development, and staff training/education.

Key responsibilities of this post include reporting general and specialist radiology, specifically chest and cardiac imaging, performing image guided biopsies and drainages, participating in general on call and supporting MDTs, teaching and research.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to pursue research interests in the areas of chest and cardiac imaging.

About us

Norwich is less than an hour away from some of the most un-spoilt coastline that England has to offer. When walking on some of our local beaches, the only other inhabitants are likely to be the resident breeding colony of grey seals. In the winter months a walk along the dunes will bring you right up close to the newborn seal pups waiting for their parents to return from the sea with their fish meal! Norfolk is also, rightly so, famous for The Broads, a network of navigable rivers and lakes, created by ancient peat excavation. The Broads total an area of 303 square kilometers and are Britain’s largest protected wetland, supporting wealth of fish, birds, insects and mammals including otters.
