An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist/ Occupational Therapist/ exercise physiologist or nurse to join the COVID/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. We are a dynamic and progressive department actively engaged in national audit, accreditation and research.

COVID and Pulmonary Rehabilitation is currently delivered across several sites from Glenfield Hospital, Leicester General Hospital, National Centre of Sports and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM) at Loughborough University and community leisure centres.

We are expanding our services to other sites within the community setting in Leicestershire and across the city. This person will be required to work flexibly across all sites and therefore a clean driving license is desirable.

Candidates should demonstrate a three years post graduate clinical experience; ideally experience in exercise testing, cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation in long term conditions is desirable.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the rehabilitation of patients with COVID and chronic respiratory diseases (across all phases of rehabilitation at all UHL sites to include an individual assessment and post rehabilitation patient exits, outpatient classes and education as appropriate).

To be a core member of the multi-disciplinary COVID & Pulmonary Rehabilitation specialist team delivering high quality, clinically effective care and patient experience, utilising research in collaboration with colleagues in everyday practice.

To participate in clinical education and supervision for undergraduate physiotherapy students, and other healthcare/research students in the department, as appropriate, acting as a role model and clinical resource demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership in the specialist area.

7. Make and receive direct referrals to and from the relevant members of multiprofessional teams, and primary care colleagues.

8. Ability to demonstrate an enthusiastic, flexible and reliable approach to working, to support the senior specialists (band7s) for the pulmonary rehabilitation in meeting service targets and deputising when appropriate in their absence.
