We are looking for an efficient, flexible and organised person to join the Cancer team in Buckinghamshire as a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator and Patient Tracker.

The Trust is responsible for tracking hundreds of cancer patient pathways at any time. This requires diligence and patience and good communication skills to expedite diagnostic tests, procedures & admissions, both within the Trust and with other hospitals.

The successful candidate must have excellent attention to detail and good organisation skills. They must be confident in speaking with staff members from a range of multi-disciplinary teams and support the coordination of meetings including live typing of clinical discussions.

NHS experience is desirable, whilst strong IT skills are vital, as well as being able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for attending the weekly PTL tracking meetings, and expediting the tracking of cancer patients.

At the weekly PTL meetings, the post holder will ensure the accurate recording of each patient case & ensure that resultant actions are made in a clear and timely manner

The post holder will be responsible for tracking cancer patients in line with national cancer targets and will facilitate data collection for suspected/ diagnosed cancer patients, entering the accurate information onto appropriate database(s).

In the absence of the PTL Manager, they must ensure that the tracking & performance issues are escalated when needed.

The post includes providing support for the MDT Co-ordinators when necessary, and data collection for the National Cancer Audits.

This post is key to providing high quality information and ensuring patients’ progress effectively on the cancer pathway.

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE standard including English and maths / computer studies or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is a distinct advantage

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of managing a discrete body of work to ensure timescales are met.
